Catholic Church clarifies it's stance on excommunication →
A while back, a young (seven yr old) girl was violated by her stepfather and became pregnant.
The mother, appalled, sought medical help for her child and doctors recommended terminating the pregnancy as a way to secure her health as carrying a child to term for a seven year old child is quite unrealistic.
As a result of this action, the following people were explicitly excommunicated
- The child’s mother
- The doctors who performed the procedure
The child would have been as well but was excused because of her age. Notice anyone absent there? Yeah, it’s the abuser.
Not excommunicated.
